Zoo Advisors is pleased to welcome Anna Musun-Miller as a Senior Advisor to our team of experienced zoo leaders. An interpreter, evaluator, and facilitator, Anna helps organizations tell their own stories more effectively. Her wealth of experience from different types of cultural institutions will inform the team’s work on strategic planning and leadership project engagements.
“It’s great to add Anna’s talents to the team and put them to work for our clients,” said David Walsh, Zoo Advisors President. “Having her unique perspectives, working across a variety of cultural organizations, helps bring new ideas to our planning conversations and creates richer solutions.”
Over the last 15 years, Anna has worked both inside organizations (Explore & More Children’s Museum, Indianapolis Zoo, Johnson County Museum of History, and others) and as a consultant (Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center, Buffalo Toronto Public Media, Aquarium of Niagara, and others). Understanding the inner workings of different institution types while maintaining an outside perspective is invaluable in her strategic and interpretive planning work. She is a passionate advocate for the guest and works to distill complex ideas into simple, direct content.
A lifelong writer, Anna’s path to cultural attractions started as a teen volunteer at the Little Rock Zoo, where she immediately asked, “Who writes the signs?” She pursued her interest in storytelling with a double major in Anthropology and English at Vanderbilt University, followed by a master’s degree in Museum Studies at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis with a focus in exhibit development. Anna has had the pleasure of creating content and managing projects for zoos, aquariums, children’s museums, and museums of art, history, and culture. When she’s not working to create powerful guest experiences, Anna can be found sweeping the ice at the local curling club or puttering in the garden.
